2. Jack Black
Jack was acting for a long time before his breakout comedic supporting role in 2000s High Fidelity, featuring in a plethora of TV and small film roles, and his music life with Tenacious D also began long before this in 1994. Jack has probably always remained most famous for acting roles, with School Of Rock still his peak, but his voicework on Kung Fu Panda, classic comedic turn in Shallow Hal and rare dramatic part in King Kong also comparative high points. Unfortunately, his career has been sullied by some poorly chosen scripts, namely Nacho Libre, Year One and Gullivers Travels, all of which absolutely tanked. However, it is easy to get the impression that while he wants to be liked in his acting persona, he just wants to have fun with Kyle Gass in Tenacious D. Tribute, of course, was absolutely huge, and just about everyone in our generation now does (or should) know the words. Despite the questionable film foray Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny, the guys keep up a pretty consistent mockery of the singer-songwriter genre with their comedic lyrics and theatrical delivery, and now, three albums in, theyre still going strong with a UK tour coming later this year. Whether theyll ever again reach their Tribute peak, Jack Black has a good dual career going on.
