Iron Maiden: EVERY Album Ranked Worst To Best
5. Powerslave
We now get into the top five Iron Maiden albums ever, and of course, these spots are reserved for the elite. Any of these if put out by another band could easily top a list like this, but such is the quality of Iron Maiden's back catalogue, the incredible Powerslave has to settle for fifth place.
There are several traits that have become synonymous with a strong Iron Maiden album over the years. The monstrous seven minute plus epics, of which Powerslave has more than a few, the galloping fast paced hooks, and of course, a strong, thrashing opener. Powerslave's Aces High may be the best of them all.
Though the greatest song on the release is up for debate, with possibly the titular song having the strongest claim, it is the final track that has become the most infamous.
At over 13 minutes long, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, a retelling of Samuel Taylor Coleridge's poem of the same name, the song is a completely unique epic, a true journey that Iron Maiden, and only Iron Maiden could make work. All this without even mentioning 2 Minutes to Midnight and Flash of the Blade, two incredible songs that could have been the best on a number of other albums.
