5. The Blueprint 3 (2009)
Im the new Sinatra / and since I made it here / I can make it anywhere / yeah they love me everywhere. from the song Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z 2006s
Kingdom Come marked the return of Jay-Z, and 2007s
American Gangster was almost like an experimental reflection of his life and career. It wasnt until 2009s
The Blueprint 3 that we truly saw a new and improved post-retirement Jay-Z. One of the first songs to have been rumored to be on the
Blueprint 3 was Jockin Jay-Z, but that song along with many others were set aside to make entirely different album. There are still rumors that there is an entire
Blueprint 3 that the majority of the world has never heard because it was completely scrapped. Luckily he made the album that he did, because it was one of his most successful releases to date. The first single, D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune), was a no hold bar complete decimation of current rap music. Jay-Z tells todays rappers to get back to rappin, youre T-Paining too much. He turned a singer into a verb, and ended a popular trend in music in one verse. The album contained a star studded ensemble that propelled the album to have five major hit singles including Empire State of Mind. Alicia Keys amazing vocals made the song not only a huge hit, but also the undisputed anthem of 2009.
The Blueprint 3 can be a contender for one of his better efforts, and it left many fans wanting more.
