Kanye West: Every Album Ranked From Worst To Best
8. Late Registration
Late Registration could be the album most hotly anticipated prior to its release on this list. This album came after Kanye's game-changing solo debut The College Dropout and everyone wanted to know what Kanye would bring to his next album. This feels like the next logical step as the production moves from more gospel-oriented sampling to Jazz and Soul, making the album feel similar yet new.
The album also featured a brief glimpse into what would happen on Kanye's future albums. Tracks like Heard 'Em Say act as Kanye's first step into the world of Pop-Rap due to the feature of Adam Levine. The album does feel a lot more like his previous record however which is only a good thing as Kanye's imaginative use of sampling is just as good here as it was in his first record.
Perhaps the biggest issue with the album is that it is too similar to the first. Kanye's best albums have almost always been those that break boundaries and change genres, especially his first one. The album, while great, cannot live up to the one that preceded it, which is nothing to be ashamed of given the quality of The College Dropout.
Best Track: Gold Digger
