Led Zeppelin: Ranking Their Studio Albums From Worst To Best

1. Physical Graffiti

Yes, Physical Graffiti is No. 1 for the simple reason that out of all the Zeppelin albums it manages to encompass almost all facets of their music. Whether it be folk ('Bron-Yr-Aur), hard blues ('In My Time of Dying'), band tributes ('Down by the Seaside' - a tribute to Neil Young - as well as 'Trampled Under Foot' which nods its head to Stevie Wonder), goofy fun music ('Boogie With Stu') or just plain sexy music ('The Wanton Song'). However, with all that in mind, it is 'Kashmir' which is the true centrepiece of the album- a track which sees all four band members bring everything they have to the table to compose something which is truly epic and more ambitious than anything that they have crafted before. Whether it be the driving guitar riff of Page, the soaring vocals of Plant, the incredible drumming of Bonham or the surrounding storm of strings arranged by Jones, 'Kashmir' epitomises the best of Zeppelin, as does Physical Graffiti.
