Leeds Festival 2015 Review : 7 Best Performances On Sunday
4. Slaves
While Royal Blood were always going to be the most mentioned musical duo on show at Reading and Leeds - thanks in part to their frightening ability to make a lot of noise - they were actually outstripped in the intensity stakes by punk duo Slaves. They clearly know how to whip up a crowd. But then youd have to be with as provocative a name as the Kent duo ahem chosen. In contrast to Royal Bloods gloss, Slaves are more raw, sillier and more self-aware just as theyre less self-concious. Daft lyrics and songs are par for the course - and so is banter (though its never quite as funny as they seem to think - and the live setting gives them an opportunity to turn up the rawness and also the confrontation in their songs. Which is quite something when one of the most memorable (Wheres Your Car, Debbie) is about a girl walking home after a sasquatch sighting. Its easy, watching them and wanting to stomp around shouting, to see why theyre so popular.
