Marvel Cinematic Universe: Soundtrack Scores Ranked From Worst To Best
11. Iron Man 3
Brian Tyler was the third composer to write for Tony Stark is as many films, highlighting something of the issue with Phase 1 of the MCU. The lack of continuity was a little jarring. Djawadi and Debney's scores for the first two Iron Man films both fell under the radar, barely noted by critics.
Tyler made the conscious decision to step away from the more rock and roll based style of the first two films and return the franchise to a traditional orchestra, albeit with a twist. It turned out to be a perfect decision for the film and the character, adding a greater depth to Tony's struggle with PTSD and the grand scale of the issues facing him.
The big Iron Man themes are best stated in Attack on 10880 Malibu Point and Battle Finale, though the theme appears frequently through the film. While Tyler also owes a bit to the Remote Control school of film scoring, there is enough variety and melodic changes to keep this entry unique among Tony's exploits.
The score is a mix of drama and humour, summing up both sides of the character perfectly. This would be Tyler's first film and he would return for Thor: The Dark World and Avengers: Age of Ultron (alongside Danny Elfman). This score remains the best of Iron Man's three solo adventures.
