Marvel Cinematic Universe: Soundtrack Scores Ranked From Worst To Best

12. Ant-Man

Christophe Beck was no stranger to Marvel when he replaced Stephen Price (Gravity) as the composer for Ant-Man in 2015. He had collaborated on the score for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and had composed for Elektra in 2005.

Beck had come up in the world of the supernatural after composing for several seasons of Joss Whedon's Buffy The Vampire Slayer, where he was tasked with creating much of what was heard on synthesizers. For Ant-Man, a full orchestra was at his disposal.

He wrote a score that was both big and cinematic, containing a recognisable theme tune for the audience to hum, while also containing more comedic cues to go alongside the crime caper aspects of the story. It references both the Avengers theme and the Falcon Theme from Henry Jackman's Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

This is Beck on peak form, infusing the film with an extra edge of upbeat fun and games. It is something of a James Bond meets Mission Impossible style and the main theme is clearly defined. One of the tracks, Escape From Jail, closes with a flourish that would not be out of place in the biggest scenes from Infinity War or Endgame, before almost instantly switching back to that zany style that would define the rest of the soundtrack.
