Marvel Cinematic Universe: Soundtrack Scores Ranked From Worst To Best

9. Captain America: The First Avenger

This score would serve as Alan Silvestri's introduction to the MCU, leading to a relationship that would carry on into three of the four Avengers films and defining the soundtrack to perhaps an entire generation of film music fans.

This score was met with widespread acclaim on its release. It was seen as a turning point in the music of the Marvel films to that point, something much more fun and upbeat than the previous releases. The score was honest and on the surface, complimenting each image it would accompany on screen.

The Captain America theme would also be the first of the themes that would be reused in later films, appearing again in The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World, The Winter Soldier, Age of Ultron and Endgame. Much like the larger connected universe, this was the true beginning of the interconnected films.

It has been described as something of an old-fashioned score, calling to mind blockbusters of the '70s and '80s, harking back to a time before the MCU had begun in its infancy. It may have been one of the more basic scores, yet it succeeds in this, offering a delight for audiences and listeners along the way.
