Marvel Cinematic Universe: Soundtrack Scores Ranked From Worst To Best
6. Spider-Man: Far From Home
Returning to Spider-Man, Michael Giacchino manages to establish a continuity that had been lacking since the departure of Danny Elfman, delivering a soundtrack that builds on the greatness introduced in Homecoming.
It shows a more mature Peter Parker, one fully in control of his powers this time around. The world is recovering from the effects of Tony Stark's finger snap, though in true Spider-Man fashion it doesn't waste much time on introspection. The cues in this film range from triumphant and powerful, to moving and then sinister with Mysterio's theme.
Giacchino brings his A-Game to his puns, opening the score with the Far From Home Suite Home overture, reveling in his wordplay. The Magical Mysterio Tour is another example of this. Honestly it can be exhausting reading the track names!
Far From Home builds on everything that he introduced in Homecoming. One obvious change is the love theme, new for this film. While not as strong as the theme introduced in the first film, the rest of the score more than makes up for this. The electonic beats of the Mysterio theme kick the score to life each time it burst on screen.
These two main themes, Spider-Man's and Mysterio's, weave around each other throughout the film, changing in tone as they go. Spider-Man's becomes more powerful and more mature, while Mysterio's grows darker.
Overall, Far From Home is an improvement on the already impressive Homecoming.
