4. THE MOUSE & THE MASK

THE MOUSE & THE MASK was created by MF DOOM and producer Danger Mouse. Danger Mouse's beats are unhinged, goofy, and hard all at the same and incorporate tons of samples from Adult Swim shows as the whole album was inspired by Adult Swim programming and was heavily promoted by the network.

DOOM gets ridiculous with his lyrics on this album, constantly referencing cartoons and making jokes. This more light-hearted flow matches well with Danger Mouse's upbeat beats and the whole project makes you feel like you're watching Saturday morning cartoons, albeit a bit ruder, which fits with the whole Adult Swim aesthetic.

The opening line "Why did you buy this album? I don't know why you did, you're stupid" perfectly encapsulates the mood of this project. It doesn't take itself seriously and it's better because of that. It is a great album to listen to if you want some DOOM that's a little on the weirder side.
