Mötley Crüe: Every Album Ranked Worst To Best

2. Shout At The Devil

Though Motley's debut set them up nicely in the glam rock world, they still had a lot of ground to cover. Going into their next record on a major label, they wanted to step up their game to the nth degree, whether it be the theatrics, the riffs...or both. Rather than just give us Too Fast For Love Pt. 2, Shout at the Devil is the sound of these guys fully growing into their studded boots.

When talking about the record now, Nikki Sixx talks about the band accidentally going heavy metal, which comes out in spades once the first track starts. Complete with demonic imagery and some of the most devilish artwork to ever grace a glam metal album, this is one of the most disturbed collections of Motley Crue songs. Across tracks like Bastard and Looks That Kill, you can definitely tell that these guys were trying to take the hard-edged sound of their debut and turn it up that much louder.

This is also the album that eventually earned them a touring spot opening up for Ozzy Osbourne, where they earned their road stripes as some of wildest rockers in the world. So next time someone tries to tell you that Motley is nothing more than just a pop rock band, throw on this record and see the horrific riffs on display.
