Muse: 10 Essential Tracks ALL Fans Should Listen To

1. Uprising

If there's one thing you can take away from the history of Muse and their continually growing library of songs, it's how relevant they are and still remain long after they've hit the charts. Uprising, the first track released from their fifth album The Resistance, is just such a track.

Led by a powerful chant that wouldn't be out of place at Anfield or Old Trafford, Uprising was originally inspired by the protests at the G20 conference in London a year prior to its release, playing on the themes of the powers that be ripping off the lower class below them, with a heavy glam rock and 80's synth influence backing the powerful lyrics.

Uprising will go down as one of the most commercially successful tracks of Muse's career, going double platinum in the US and standing as one of their highest charted tracks of all time. It's easy to see why.

Oh, and did you know Muse played Uprising for an Italian TV show, but switched places when they were asked to play with a backing track? Matt played the drums, Chris the guitar and keyboard and Dom the bass and vocals.

Born in Ireland and raised in Australia, Mark still wishes his Tetris and Mario Kart skills could translate to the real world more than just writing about games for nearly 20 years. Still, can't complain.
