Muse: 10 Essential Tracks ALL Fans Should Listen To

4. Thought Contagion

If you want to see how the band has progressed over the years, look no further than Thought Contagion. A stand-out track from their most recent album, Simulation Theory, it's an encapsulation both of what the band was from their opening days to what they've become today.

Simulation Theory itself is a slight departure from their rock based roots, a more pop inspired outing that relies less on their more familiar guitar heavy tracks and more a full on 80's, neon drenched, radio friendly tone. Just don't take that at face value, the album still explores some heavy and important themes familiar to fans of old.

Thought Contagion bucks the trend of the album's overall feel ever so slightly and benefits from that juxtaposition, delivering one of the better tunes of Muse's most recent outings and joining the list of instantly catchy chorus lines.

It's infectious, much like most of Muse's best tracks, and when you dig a little deeper you'll notice how the song itself explores what it means to have thoughts and ideas of others can change the way you feel.

Born in Ireland and raised in Australia, Mark still wishes his Tetris and Mario Kart skills could translate to the real world more than just writing about games for nearly 20 years. Still, can't complain.
