Oh Myles God At: 4:34 As was noted in the piece we did about certain things only
Alter Bridge fans will understand, AB III remains an endlessly rewarding album for those that are willing to dig a little deeper than just for surface value when it comes to song meanings and composition. That being said the second piece of music fans got their hands on in the pre-release alongside the bone-powderingly heavy Isolation, was this little gem. Words Darker recants a conversation between both Myles and guitarist Mark Tremonti on the idea of the afterlife and that of this being all there is. With Myles taking lead vocals on one verse and Tremonti the other they play out the contrasting views of faith and nothingness, synching up for a chorus that proclaims that despite everything, they won't know until the end. It's at that endpoint when these points have been made that Myles delivers the goods yet again, not only doing a very long sustained note before the big finish but following a sharp intake of breath at the 4:49 mark, ends up going higher than the heavens themselves to close the song.
