Oasis: Ranking Every Album From Worst To Best

2. The Masterplan (1998)

While this may be cheating, The Masterplan stands head and shoulders above some of Oasis' proper studio albums. This record is technically a compilation record comprised of mainly B-sides off of the group's singles. But this album proves that the band's B-sides could be better than many other band's A-sides.

The album contains some of Noel's greatest songwriting moments on songs like the acoustic "Talk Tonight" and the fan favorite "Half the World Away." On the other hand, there are songs that really kick out the jams like the live staple "Acquiesce" and the punk-as-hell "Headshrinker," which features Liam's infectious snarl.

The album also features two of Noel's greatest tracks. The first is "Going Nowhere," a candid look at a man who has gotten everything he wants but still feels hollow and discontent with his life. The other is "The Masterplan," which Noel himself cites as one of the greatest songs he has ever written.

It's not every day that a compilation record would be considered a must hear for fans. But when you have a tracklist this awe-inspiring, it's no wonder that Oasis flew as far into the stratosphere as they did.
