"Roll With It" is a song that seems to have a certain aura about it due to its history. This was the single that was released in the fateful week when Oasis and sparring partners Blur went toe-to-toe for who had the best single release.
While "Roll With It" is a fantastic track, it doesn't seem to possess the same chutzpah as the other singles found on the record. The band are back in the realm of pop for this outing, with a melody that seems ripped straight out of the pop-rock 70's.
However, what this song lacks in depth it makes up for with copious amounts of attitude. Liam's vocal is delightfully snide as he rides the riff's rhythm throughout the song. This song is also a great track for the rhythm section, which keeps things interesting and preventing the track's melodic structure from getting too monotonous.
After the scene has been set up, "Roll With It" comes on and opens the door for the more excellent tunes to come, even if its replay value might not be as strong. Other singles from this record may be better, but this song is still a solid track all around.
