Oasis What's The Story - Every Song Ranked

7. Hello

Oasis had already shown the public they knew how to start a record with "Rock n Roll Star" off of Definitely Maybe. With the aptly titled "Hello," the band created one of the greatest opening tracks of the entire 90's.

After some initial feedback, the track gives way to a tidal wave of guitars as the band settles you into the groove almost instantaneously. The song's chorus has a certain grandness as Liam intones that the life they're living will never be the same again. After the band's launch after this album, how right he was.

The outro of the song also contains some of the greatest licks that Noel has put into an Oasis track. While his playing style is not exactly Van Halen worthy, each of his guitar parts serves its own purpose as it provides a colorful texture to the sound of every track. Also, the bit of fan service at the end where Noel sings "it's good to be back" never fails to put a smile on the face of any Oasis aficionado.

Once "Hello" came through the speakers, fans were certain that this record would be far from a sophomore slump. A stellar opening, like all classic records should have.
