Paramore: Every Album Ranked Worst To Best
4. Riot!
Paramore gained more mainstream attention with the release of their sophomore album ‘Riot!’ in 2007.
Their breakout single ‘Misery Business’ catapulted them into the charts and helped them stand out from the pack of emo-punk bands that emerged in the mid to late-2000s, particularly with Hayley Williams’ striking, bright orange hair.
The album as a whole was a strong effort and saw Paramore create a deep connection with their dedicated, loyal fanbase; therefore it may come as a surprise to see it ranked this low. However, the varied music genres explored on the record did make ‘Riot!’ sound a bit disjointed at times and disrupted the flow of the album.
There were definitely high points, with songs such as ‘Fences’ and ‘crushcrushcrush’ standing out in particular, but the overall piece did come across as a young band still experimenting with their sound, which to be fair, they still were at the time.
The follow-up singles to ‘Misery Business’, such as ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘That’s What You Get’, did not find the same level of success and casual fans were left to wonder whether Paramore would just be a flash in the pan. Obviously, history now tells us they were not.
