Ramones: 15 Best Songs (That Weren't From The Original Lineup)
12. Rock 'N' Roll High School
Album: End of the Century (1980)
Lineup: Joey, Johnny, Marky, Dee Dee
The End of the Century era may have represented the Ramones at some of their poppiest, but you can't say they didn't make it work. A prime example of this comes in the form of the now-iconic track Rock 'n' Roll High school (which also accompanied the film of the same name.)
If Blitzkrieg Bop and I Wanna Be Sedated are the Ramones' two most popular songs, Rock 'n' Roll High School has a pretty solid case for the third place. From Joey's energetic vocals, Marky banging away on drums, and Johnny and Dee Dee providing the catchy riffs, this is a song that the band clearly had a lot of fun with, which makes it that much more enjoyable to listen to.
This is also yet another example of both Joey's unique singing style turning the most basic of lyrics into some of the most memorable, as well as the ever-so-slight increase in tempo as the song progresses lending itself to the upbeat feel. In the end, it's no wonder this track became so popular.
