Ranking The '27 Club' Based On Musical Talent

2. Kurt Cobain

Kurt Cobain is one of the biggest music icons the modern generation has ever seen, not a bad achievement for a man that died at the age of twenty seven back in 1994. Even today, you could go to pretty much any western high school and see at least a handful of fourteen year olds wearing Nirvana badges, hoodies and/or bags. When you consider that many of these teen's parents had not even met at the time of Nirvana's success; it really paints a picture of the band's legacy. Grunge was a sound that had been around since the late 80's, when bands such as Soundgarden emerged onto the scene. However, it was Nirvana that changed the direction of music entirely with their second studio album 'Nervermind'. It was an album so popular that it displaced Michael Jackson's 'Dangerous' album at the top of the US Billboard Charts; a feat unheard of for a grunge band. Unfortunately whilst Nirvana were brilliant, they opened the floodgates for some horrendous copy-cat bands and the world suffered from a few years of awful grunge music throughout the mid-nineties. A fine example of terrible grunge being Cobain's ex-girlfriend Courtney Love's band, Hole. Cobain committed suicide at his home in Lake Washington Blvd, Seattle. He was found alongside a suicide note by an electrician, with the note being addressed to his imaginary childhood friend 'Boddah', explaining how his excitement for life and music had died a long time ago.
