Ranking The '27 Club' Based On Musical Talent

1. Jimi Hendrix

Hendrix is viewed as the greatest electric guitarist in music history by many and acclaimed as one of the greatest musicians of all time by most critics. He was both a music pioneer and visionary, fusing genres most would have previously considered incompatible. Jazz, American folk, psychedelic rock and hard rock would all be merged together to make one Hendrix record. The Rolling Stones magazine, named Hendrix as the 'greatest guitar player in history', via a poll compiled by top music experts. While his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame biography is also particularly complimentary about the rock star's ability with the instrument, stating: "Hendrix expanded the range and vocabulary of the electric guitar into areas no musician had ever ventured before." Outside of music, Hendrix had a history of substance abuse. A running theme on this list, it would seem. He also didn't react well to high quantities of alcohol and would often turn violent when drunk. In 1970, the musician's lifestyle caught up with him, when he died of a drug overdose and inhaling his own vomit. The Hall of Famer's legacy is one of the finest music has ever seen. There are now statues of the musician located in both the UK and USA. Not to mention, a park in Seattle was named after him in 2006. Simply put, there are very few artists idolised quite in the same way as Jimi Hendrix. If you enjoyed the list and would like instant updates of future articles follow my Twitter page @Dragonstravel.
