Ranking Blink-182's Hit Singles From Worst To Best
Where does your favourite rank?
Is Blink-182 officially broken up? Or is the separation sparked by some very public in-fighting just another in a long line of "hiatuses" that will eventually resolve itself with the promise of new music or a reunion tour? It's the type of on-again/off-again relationship that leaves fans of Blink-182 wondering if they've truly seen the end of the Mark, Tom, and Travis show. Though they became famous more for their tomfoolery (running naked through the streets in music videos, bantering on stage and in interviews about fart jokes, etc...) than for their music, it wasn't long before Blink-182 was helping to carry the flag for mainstream rock, standing on a perch once occupied by their punk elders, Green Day. Midway through their career, the members of Blink-182 began to shed their immaturities, wanting the focus to be on their music rather than their genitals or fondness for extravagant cursing. Their coming-of-age story is told in the band's singles collection, and it shows an evolution--albeit a subtle one--of both sound and subject matter. Though to some they'll always be that goofy Southern California skate-punk dipsh*ts, Blink-182 has crafted a collection of songs that proves they have more range than they're typically given credit for, offering something for everyone. Hook-laden pop rock? Sure. Emo-culling breakup songs? Absolutely. But, as this list shows, they also have a penchant for nuanced storytelling and refined musicianship.
