Ranking Every Metallica Album From Worst To Best
8. Load (1996)
Best Tracks: Until It Sleeps, King Nothing, Ain't My B****
Worst Track: Bleeding Me
Well, it's certainly better than Reload, especially in a modern context where the shock of the style change is long forgotten. There's a fair amount of forgettable filler in the middle, but a number of underrated songs too (Wasting My Hate) and some admirable attempts to be different (the very country-sounding Mama Said).
It remains jarring to a lot of fans who can't stomach much of the band post-Black Album, but there's a solid record here even if it's easy to understand why so many were alienated by the style shift.
