Ranking Every Paramore Album From Worst To Best
2. Brand New Eyes
Paramore returned from their critically and very popular predecessor RIOT! with a new maturity; a lot has changed in the lives of the five band members and it can be heard in the lyrics. To best describe this album would be the punk-rock version of Fleetwood Mac's 1977 hit album 'Rumours'. Hayley Williams and Josh Farro broke up between the writing of RIOT! and Brand New Eyes, allowing the band to enter the 'Rumours Era'.
With five singles and not a bad one in the bunch, Brand New Eyes has just been pipped to the post on this list. The first single 'Ignorance' is a loud, punk, and aggressive song that lyrically talks about the frustrations within the band. 'Brick By Boring Brick' is another heavy-sounding song that lyrically talks about fairytales and how getting lost in a world of your own can be dangerous. 'The Only Exception' is the ballad of the singles released and discusses the fear of lost love and how new love can change your perception of how guarded you need to be. 'Careful' is another ruckus punk-rock track that is filled with anger and frustration, while follow-up 'Playing God' explores how blind faith can be seen as hypocrisy.
The rest of the album is filled with mature sounds and lyrics that explore a group of friends who are burnt out and feel the mounting pressure of fame. 'Turn It Off' is one of the best tracks on the album, exploring wanting to turn off your feelings, not just about love but in relation to everything in general. Other standout tracks include 'Misguided Ghosts', 'Looking Up', and smash hit 'Decode'.
