"The Writing's on the Wall" is all about perspective. Rolling Stone described the song as a "pre-break-up report from a relationship in which two people keep seeing things in different ways." It's the optical illusion of love, you might say.

The accompanying music video challenges visual perceptions, using painting trickery and basic supplies from Home Depot to create a series of images that, when caught on film at the right angle, make your brain completely lose it's $h!t.

It's fun to see an experienced band working with such youthful vigor, constantly running to keep up with the pace of the course, while gleefully taking control of the camera in spots. More than even that damn treadmill video, this seems like the product of a bunch of kids on a playground.

In case you're wondering, they tried 61 takes, making it through the entirety of the course 18 times. (The version you see is somewhere around Take 30.)
