Red Hot Chili Peppers: Every Unlimited Love Song Ranked Worst To Best

3. Black Summer

The lead single, Black Summer, has everything a Chilis fan could want.

John Frusciante's opening lick is played with a buttery smoothness, reminiscent of Under the Bridge, and equally as soul stirring. Anthony Kiedis' lyrics are at times ambiguous to the point of absurd, but historically that's always been part of his allure. Flea's bass is prominent without being overbearing, serving as the perfect engine to drive the song along. And then you have Chad Smith pounding out the jams with all the proficiency of a master drummer. Every member compliments one another, as only a band with 40 plus years experience could.

This is just another solid lead single, from a group of highly seasoned musicians, who are at their best when playing together.
