Saves The Day - Saves The Day Album Review: All 11 Tracks Analysed

11. Stand In The Stars €“ The album closes with one of its strongest tracks, a highly entertaining outlier and possible preview of Saves The Day' next stylistic transformation. "Stand In The Stars," is a fun, acoustic guitar driven pop song, which the band augment with some final, covert songwriting flourishes. One such flourish is singer Chris Conley's most impressive lyrical composition of the entire album in the form of the motor-mouthed chorus. His syllabic construction is masterful as he sings, "We'll stand in the stars / spinning in a circle sideways / silhouetted by a hundred million burning constellations," spinning whole phrases clearly and precisely in the compacted space of the upbeat musical composition. The band ends the album on a high note with "Stand In The Stars." With their eighth album, Saves The Day have created a wise, joyful expression of live in the moment adulthood. A flawed album that is elevated above its detriments by expert musicianship and clever creative flourishes, Saves The Day's self-titled album manages to be deceptively deep, substantial and lighthearted all at the same time.
