Sherlock: 10 Best Music Compositions

3. How It Was Done

Series 3, "The Empty Hearse" Series 3 was the series that surprised us all; the plot and overall tone of Sherlock went places it had never gone before, even making its audience question whether it had "jumped the shark," so to speak. The show's comedic turn took us all on a completely unexpected, yet very entertaining, ride; the music followed suit, ultimately making the Series 3 soundtrack the best one yet, starting with its fantastic first track, "How It Was Done." Perhaps it's lucky that Arnold composed for two James Bond films, as, during this first scene of "The Empty Hearse," we have an incredibly fun opening sequence where Sherlock turns into a bit of a James Bond figure. The energized and electronic- and rock-influenced track plays as Sherlock bungee-jumps from St. Bart's rooftop, crashes through a window, and - my favourite moment - kisses Molly (accompanied by an awesome guitar solo). Who cares if this isn't how it was actually done; I'm just grateful we were able to witness this scene on our screens, accompanied by the perfect soundtrack. It's almost a shame that Lestrade cuts Anderson off - I was more than happy to continue on with both the theory and the music!
