Slipknot: 10 Hidden Song Details You Totally Missed

8. (Sic) - Borrows From Demo Album

Those lucky supporters from the very earliest days of Slipknot would be forgiven for a double-take upon hearing the second track from Slipknot’s first proper album. (sic) borrows heavily from the song Slipknot which appeared on the 1996 experimental independent release Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.

The “you can’t kill me, ‘cause i’m already inside you” refrain from towards the end of (sic) is almost identical in sound to a section from the song Slipknot, except for the slightly less relatable lyrics “you can’t see me, for I hide within the Umbra”.

It is interesting to note that for all the line-up changes through the years (Shawn “Clown” Crahan is the only founding member still in the band), the core Slipknot sound has never actually deviated too much. Several band members of past and present have declared that despite the comings and goings, the concept of what is intrinsically “Slipknot” is something greater than simply the sum of all parts.
