The Beatles: 14 Most Under-Appreciated Songs
3. Hey Bulldog (Yellow Submarine Soundtrack)
The film soundtrack to Yellow Submarine is interesting in that it only featured four new songs from The Beatles, with pre-established classics taking the lead to carry much of the film. Hey Bulldog, however, might be the best of them all and STILL doesn't get nearly enough recognition.
Between a badass piano intro, great guitar work, and phenomenal vocals from John Lennon, the Beatles really showed their gritty side with this song. Starr's work on drums is so subtly badass, while Harrison's lead guitar shows off the blues roots from Carl Perkins and Chuck Berry he adored when he first picked up the instrument.
And Hey Bulldog is still beloved by fans of all ages today. Most notably, in 2014, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and longtime Beatles friend Jeff Lynne performed it together at a special event commemorating the Fab Four's American debut on The Ed Sullivan Show.
I wouldn't recommend starting with Hey Bulldog if you're just getting into The Beatles, but it's definitely one that needs to be heard several times.
