The Beatles: 14 Most Under-Appreciated Songs

4. Honey Pie (White Album Disc 2)

The second half of the White Album is underrated by itself, but I seriously cannot find enough good things to say about Honey Pie.

It's much like When I'm Sixty-Four in that it's very un-Beatles, this time with a very Tin Pan Alley feel. It sounds like it was written in the 1940s for Gene Kelly as opposed to for The Beatles 1968, with Benny Goodman-esque clarinets and a guitar that sounds reminiscent of Django Reinhardt.

Even better is that Paul McCartney, who wrote the song and sang lead vocals, clearly gets into how unique his tune is as he improvises and scats with the lyric "I like this kind, hot kind of music"

There's only one thing left to do, folks. Go and listen to the full song right now and immediately get memories of your grandparents playing their old vinyl albums.
