https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uW8oEWfuEIg After bringing all of the bells, whistles and tinsel of typical Christmas anthems into the studio for their first two festive tunes, The Killers took a much more considered and measured approach to their third: Joseph, Better You Than Me. The song featured both Elton John and Neil Tennant and found Flowers in a now trademark storytelling mood. The song considers the role that Joseph had to play in the traditional nativity tale, and tries to see the struggles that the man would have had to face at that time. Flowers and John alternate the vocals almost equally, asking questions of the humble man in the wake of his wife's unexpected, immaculate pregnancy. Before the end a booming chorus offers commendation to Joseph for his role in the events, each one proclaiming without question that they certainly would not want to switch places with him...
