Bastille - Bad Blood

The fact this this album got snubbed truly blew my mind. A debut album which peaked at number one in the charts, complete with an artsy album cover and a music formula which almost screams Mercury. I do feel that I'm not the only one reeling in shock. As the band have proved on their recent live lounge performances, they really are a diverse talented bunch who can build with their own hands. The albums integration of sound devices produces something of beauty, a something that is widely accessible to lovers of music from all backgrounds, while yet not restricting itself to too many boundaries. Perhaps it was the lyrical theme and questionable over use of harmonies that drew the snub? It's really hard to tell. At least they secured their much deserved number one slot.
