Tool: 10 Albums We Waited For Longer Than The New Album

1. Black Flag - What The... (~28 Years)

When I'm bored, I like to show this album artwork to graphic designers and illustrators and watch them cry. Try it, it's fun.

Looking at the state of this monstrosity, you'd never guess that this is one of the most prominent hardcore punk bands in history. Sporting one of music's more intense lineages, with six albums within their initial ten year run, Black Flag split in 1986 due to erratic line-ups, little money, and a lot of in-fighting between members.

In the years since, members of the band have crossed paths, but things have always stopped short of a full reunion. That was until early 2013, when band leader Greg Ginn announced he would be joined by Jealous Again EP-era vocalist Ron Reyes for a tour and new album.

It did not go well.

Prior to the album's release, Reyes was booted from the band on stage by skateboarder and Mike V & The Rats vocalist Mike Vallely, who would take over the reigns permanently in the new year.

The album itself sounds like each part was recorded in separate rooms through a CB radio, with the "art" looking like the the 90s vomiting into it's own feces. Awful scenes.
