Tool: 10 Albums We Waited For Longer Than The New Album
3. Pink Floyd - The Endless River (~20 Years)
When you're one of the most well-known progressive rock bands in the world and you reunite after a seventeen year hiatus to release your first album in over twenty years, what do you do? That's right, release an album of ambient psychedelic music. Hang on...
This was the process of legendary prog rock act Pink Floyd in 2014 with the release of The Endless River. A tribute to their former keyboard player Richard Wright, David Gilmour led a depleted Pink Floyd into the studio after stalwart Roger Waters refused to participate.
A band with a legacy that will stand the test of time, thanks to seminal releases The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall, their penultimate release, 1994's The Division Bell, did left the band on a bad note, despite its strong sales. Sitting in a similar situation to Black Sabbath, fans were keen at the idea of a new album to see the band off.
The Endless River however didn't fill the void in the same way, with many critics lambasting the lack of vocals, and the lack of Wright and Waters. Die hard fans saw through the critics and regard it as a fitting tribute to their beloved keyboardist.
