http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DaY8-Mui0I A writing collaboration between John Deacon and Freddie Mercury, The Miracle was the fifth (and final) single from the 1989 album of the same name. It was released in November 1989 some six months after the album's release, due to the need for the band to create another music video and also because of the lack of touring the band had done in association with this album. The music video for the track caused a minor sensation, as it involved four young men plucked from open auditions (which attracted thousands) to play the band members. The children performed dressed in several different Queen-era costumes and the child playing Mercury was a then-unknown Ross McColl. The actual members of Queen, who appeared only briefly in the video with their younger counterparts, were apparently so impressed with the performance that Mercury himself joked the band should send them on tour instead of doing it themselves. During an interview at the time with BBC Radio 1 the four members of Queen spoke openly about their wish not to tour further at the present time, with Mercury indicating he was the one mostly to blame for this decision, because of his lack of enthusiasm for playing to stadium audiences and not being able to successfully book smaller, club style, shows. In later years the albums iconic cover which was also used as the single's cover but in negative form attracted claims that it had been stolen from a designer who previously worked with Iron Maiden. The cover features the four band members heads with interlocking features to create one solid unit, thus symbolic of their decision to split royalties equally and accept no solo credits for material created. No legal challenge to the original work was ever made.
First studied Journalism in Ireland in 2003, returning to Sunderland University on the tenth anniversary of my first studies in the subject to continue towards an MA. Interested in all sorts including WWE, Music, Film, TV and Games. Has travelled around a bit to places like California, Ontario and Mexico and plans to do more of the same soon again.
Recently I've been writing pieces on my favourite topics which have included obscure theme music from nostalgic shows, Guns N' Roses and a few other surprises I'll be happy to share in time!
