3. I'm Gonna Crawl
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fo75iBOpdYA Every bit as chilling as Since Ive Been Loving You, Led Zeppelin were a band who could always be counted on to tackle the blues, and do so in an idiosyncratic way. A world away from their immediately previous blues outing, Presences Tea For One, Im Gonna Crawl rolls in like fog over the Thames, complete with droning keys, murky guitar, and Bonhams drums sounding like oars dipping in and out of the river, carrying the song along. The strongest ballad of Led Zeppelins later days, Im Gonna Crawl offers a tantalizing glimpse of the blues revival of the 80s spearheaded by the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughn. Im Gonna Crawl is also a sad, poignant reminder of how Zeppelin were during the time of In Through The Out Doors recording. Battered and bruised, with more scars to follow, and Im Gonna Crawl perfectly sums up how they might have felt back then.
