Valentine's Day: 20 Greatest Love Songs Of All Time
18. "La Vie En Rose" - Edith Piaf
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0feNVUwQA8U Who better to tell us about love than the French? Even though the song has been bastardized, played out by a million accordion-wielding musicians, theres something magical about French chanteuse Edith Little Sparrow Piafs lyrics telling of a love so life-changing that she literally sees life through rose-colored glasses (it can also be translated as life in rosy hues). Piafs song was a hit in 1946 and it made her household name in America. Musicians across the pond were so enamored that it was re-recorded in English, most notably by Louis Armstrong (though eventually everybody from B.B. King to Pavarotti took a shot at it). The song has appeared in too many films and TV shows to count, from La Vie En Rose (2007 film starring Marion Cotillard, who took home the Best Actress Oscar) and Sabrina (Iconic 1954 Audrey Hepburn film) to I Love Lucy.
