4. Chain Music Ambition
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMkCqyoBcuY Production: 10 Lyrics/Flow: 8 Message: 9 Notable Lyrics: Keep a gold chain, h*es changed, I didn't/They say that karats help your vision/But somehow it made them listen/No this ain't silver, this is my dilemma/Arrogant when I finish/I came from humble beginnings/So it's nothing to finish/I put my hundred percent in/Put my pride in the pen, cuh/And modify your opinion/Trying to give them light and a message/But you rather have some f**king V.V.S.'s/She said I'm charming and I meant it/But she was talking about my pendant/I got geechi on her, came back with thirty chains/Now she attentive, I bet she listen to everything With a beat like this Wale couldnt go wrong. On top of that, he gave us a message, and let us clown stupid people with him all at the same time. Wale is intelligent enough to dangle the chain (i.e him rapping about money and wearing jewellery) while feeding us substance in his work. This entire song is a parody of women finally noticing him, all while he was the same guy the entire time. With a Rick Ross sample on the chorus this song killed the internet, radio and in clubs. In hindsight its an update of Nike Boots, but with superior production. Where people thought the song was about one thing on the chorus, the verses held far deeper meaning.
