we7 Map The Top UK Downloaded and Streamed Artists of 2011

Music streaming service providers we7 have unveiled a clever little interactive map to show the most downloaded and streamed artists in the UK of the last twelve months.

Fans of music streaming will no doubt already know that we7 creates personal radio stations just for you based around what you like and also allows users to make specific requests to hear specific songs and albums from their favourite artists or genres. To mark its re-launch this week, they€™ve created a smart-looking interactive musical map to represent the most downloaded and streamed artists in the UK over the past 12 months, to demonstrate we7.com€™s unique radio functionality. we7 acts your own personal DJ and creates personalised radio stations based on the music you love. Simply click on an artist or genre on the map - which reveals who the population of the UK are listening to online from we7€™s 9.5m database of songs - and we7 will play songs from and similar to those artists or genres. In the same manner of commercial radio the service is free, using advertising to generate revenue and thus to pay artists and labels what is owed in royalties, though there is also the option for Premium service account holders to enjoy unlimited On-demand requests and the building of personal playlists for just £5 or £10 a month for the delivery of the service on-line and on mobile devices. Steve Purdham CEO we7 said: €œ€œwe7 is about creating a smart, personal and intimate listening experience. We believe most people want radio stations that are personally tailored to them with the opportunity to occasionally request songs. It€™s like having your own personal DJ who knows what you want to hear. As music streaming moves from early adopters to the mainstream we want to be at the forefront of delivering a simple and easy to use service that everybody can engage with.€ Here's a rundown of the chnages that we7 have made to the service:
