Lionel Johnson was a recluse. Not much else is known about him other than the fact that he was a poet and a member of the Rhymer’s Club. Another member of the Rhymer’s Club was a man called Lord Alfred Bruce Douglas, otherwise known as Bosie. Lionel Johnson was the man who introduced Bosie to his friend, Oscar Wilde. That affair would ultimately lead to Oscar Wilde’s imprisonment.

You couldn’t really say that Lionel Johnson’s death was mysterious or strange, it is just sudden and unique. Lionel Johnson was having a drink in The Green Dragon pub in Fleet Street, London, when he simply fell off a bar stool and died. Some people believe he had a stroke.
