10 "Bucket List" Tourist Attractions That Are Totally Overrated

4. Las Vegas, United States

Las Vegas is fun for an evening, and then after that all you're left with is an unsatisfied, empty feeling in the pit of your stomach. Tacky is the appropriate word when it comes to many of the sights to be see in the city, with tremendous amounts of excess but absolutely zero taste. You've got massive hotels and casinos, each competing to be more opulent and ridiculous than the rest. There are shows every night, but none of them will really make you happy - they're all formerly huge stars who have been relegated to the traditional Vegas gig for celebrities who are a few exits past relevance. It's a very curious feeling; there are lights and events everywhere, but you just sort of feel depressed. There's the inescapable voice in your head that tells you you're better than this. You're paying for glitz, but absolutely no substance, and as much as Vegas tries to make you forget that, you just can't.
