10 Comedy Podcasts You Need To Listen To Right Now

6. The Comedian's Comedian With Stuart Goldsmith

A completely different spin on the traditional comedy (or interview) podcast, The Comedian's Comedian takes a methodical look at the science of the craft, sitting down with countless names from the profession to debate comedy as both an artform and a paid living.

As a stand-up himself with a background in street theatre, Goldsmith has an engaging style that calms his guest from the outset, opening up some usually-guarded entertainers with a host of questions about their history and influence as a method of understanding how they engage with comedy.

Nearly two hundred interviewees from comedy have sat down to postulate their own feelings on the diverse and complex world of making people laugh, with the guest list ranging from stadium-fillers such as Jimmy Carr, Tim Minchin and Jason Manford, to fellow circuit success stories John Robins, David O'Doherty and Sara Pascoe.

Far from being a 'pick your favourites' Podcast though, Stuart's absorbing patter with his guests steers you towards his chats with those you may have never been aware of, or even those you don't normally enjoy.

Outside of the very next entry on this list, it's the sharpest, most poignant interview podcast out there, and it's all available for free.
