Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast (brilliantly and unhelpfully shortened to RHLSTP) remains the undisputed leader of the longform interview show, with over one hundred and thirty conversations recorded at the London location with some of the brightest and bravest in the world of comedy and entertainment.

Herring has a remarkable knack of drilling deeper into his guests' psyches, often triggered by his own insecurities with his perceived failings as a comedian and writer, sometimes in stark and awkward contrast to his more commercially successful guest.

As if then to completely trivialise the serious discussion, Herring will then revert to his amusing 'emergency questions' to reconfigure the chat, including important considerations such as 'Would you rather have a ham hand or an armpit that could dispense suncream?', 'As you lay dying, which celebrity would you want to stroke your hair?' and 'Would you rather date a man who was a six foot penis or a man whose penis was another tiny man?'

With the interviews recorded in front of a live, paying audience, the discussion occasionally reverts to an improvised performance between Herring and his guest, as the two will gently compete for laughs from those in attendance.

As warm as it is sardonic, RHLSTP is a must-listen.
