10 Crazy Christmas Traditions That You Won't Believe Are Real

Another food tradition for you here but a lot less appetizing than a bucket of KFC. Iin Greenland Christmas revellers like to enjoy a nice winter snack that is made from auks (basically penguins but cuter) wrapped in the hollowed-out body of a seal. Barf. The exact process is pretty strenuous and it involves placing 500 auks, feathers and all, into a seal carcass. You sew the seal back up and cover it in grease. Then you bury the seal-auk combination and place a large rock on top to prevent air from going in or out. Now wait for SEVEN months. The birds will have fermented; the insides will be near liquid, which makes them ready to be sucked out for Christmas. Apparently it tastes like really really really old Stilton cheese but I wont be the one to find out if thats true. If youve ever complained about your grandmas fruitcake just count your lucky stars of Bethlehem that you dont live in Greenland.
