10 Crazy Things Booze Does To Your Body
1. Binge Drinking Or Slow And Steady?
The recommendation in the UK is that men should drink no more than 21 units per week, and for women it's 14. So, presuming that you're sticking to those guidelines (as you surely are), are you better off drinking a couple of units a day, or saving them up for a blowout at the weekend?
As we've established, the inflammatory effects of alcohol on the body can cause serious damage over an extended period of time.
The big binges will cause a large amount of damage very quickly, but this style of drinking hopefully also means that there is something of a recovery period (we'll call this the "never again" effect).
The problem with moderate regular drinking is that, although you're not going out and taking your knickers off in the city centre, you're not ever allowing your body a chance to recover, meaning that the same damage will just build up over time.
The problem actually seems to be that even those minuscule government recommendations are still just too much for our bodies to handle.
The real question is, are you going to let that stop you?
