10 Disastrous Consequences Of Man-Made Climate Change

2. Polar Bears Are Going Extinct

Polar Bears are the largest species of bear on the planet, and many people are fascinated by them. They are beautiful animals who live on the ice sheets of the Arctic where they hunt, mate, live, and play. Sadly, their entire existence is tied to the ice sheets they call home, and since those ice sheets are rapidly declining, so too are the polar bears.

Recent estimates of the Polar Bear population in the Northwest Territories and Alaska show a population decline of as much as 40% between 2001 and 2010. While they typically have a broad range, it must include ice, which is why they are dying off so rapidly.

As previously mentioned, the ice in the Arctic is disappearing at an alarming rate, and since the Polar Bear is an ice-dependent species, it is going away with it. Some have migrated further south and even mated with other species of bears to create a hybrid, but it’s unlikely the Polar Bear itself will survive much longer.

With a disappearing ecosystem, the animals are simply incapable of evolving quickly enough to survive. Their prey animals, mating areas, and places to live are simply going away with little to nothing preventing it from happening.
