You might not think of a rise in global temperatures as something that affects more than your comfort, but as it happens, there are numerous implications, which directly impact our health. A rise in temperature means more use of air conditioning, which requires the burning of fossil fuels at coal power plants.

Increased fossil fuels in turn cause increased air pollution, which can lead to death in areas like Shanghai and other densely populated cities. Another impact of increased temperature has been a longer and more intense allergy season thanks to a lengthened growing season of pollinate plants.

A far more serious concern, which impacts more people across the planet is a rise in insect-borne diseases. Every year, more than one billion people are infected by vector-borne diseases, which result in millions of deaths from malaria, dengue fever, and other common diseases.

The rise in temperature has directly impacted a population boom of mosquitos and other insects capable of carrying these diseases to humans. This means that a rise in temperatures has led to the deaths of large populations of people, and that trend is on the rise thanks to global climate change.
