10 Dumbest Things In Harry Potter And The Cursed Child

4. Albus And Scorpius’s Manipulation Of The Triwizard Tournament

Albus and Scorpius’s adventures through time are littered with ridiculous story beats, the worst of which is their manipulation of the Triwizard Tournament.

The two boys believe the way to stop Cedric Diggory's death is by preventing him from winning the tournament with Harry. Rather than going straight to the Third Task, they make their mission more convoluted by interfering with the first two tasks in the hope of reducing Cedric’s headstart into the maze.

Despite the fact the dragons are in an enclosure, the pair of them somehow manage to get close enough to deprive Cedric of his wand by using Expelliarmus. What’s more, not one of the surrounding students or staff members seem to notice a jet of red light flying towards Cedric.

Their manipulation of the Second Task is even more laughable. After obtaining some Gillyweed from nowhere, Albus and Scorpius use a conveniently-sized pipe in Moaning Myrtle’s bathroom to gain access to the lake and cast an Engorgement Charm upon Cedric.

Both of these scenarios are contrived and unrealistic. The more you think about them, the more ridiculous they seem.
